After a 9-1 regular season, the Skiatook Bulldogs (#1 in District 5A-4) kept the ball rolling when they made easy work of Glenpool. It was a seamless game on both sides of the ball. Skiatook’s defense made Glenpool fight for every yard, and the offense could do no wrong. When the teams met in week one, Skiatook made things look easy. The Bulldogs won 30-7. This time was even worse. Skiatook scored 31 points in the first 14 minutes of the game, and from there they were in cruise control. From out of the gate, it quickly became apparent that Skiatook was still way out of Glenpool’s league. After a bad snap, Glenpool fumbled on their second play. Dylon Carnagey, a Skiatook senior, fell on the ball. Three plays later, quarterback Korey Miller scored on a read option fake to TK Wilkerson from 11 yards out. Things were already looking bad for the Warriors, but they quickly looked even worse when Skiatook’s Jaxson Dohn intercepted a wild pass and took it to the house from about 30 yards away, breaking a couple tackles on a nice return. Glenpool proceeded to once again go three-and-out and boot a 12-yard punt, which led to a field goal from Skiatook’s Derek Eckenfels that extended the lead to 17-0. Skiatook’s defense held strong, and the next drive was all TK Wilkerson. The senior back broke loose on a 54-yard run, and then scored on the next play from 7 yards away. A Jayden Garner interception got the ball back in Skiatook’s hands at the end of the third, and that set up a short touchdown run by Korbin McLaughlin. 31-0 was the score with 11:21 left in the second. Glenpool finally scored on a short pass to close the gap, but the Bulldogs still carried a 31-7 lead into the locker room. Skiatook came into the second half looking to hold onto their lead, but they didn’t have their foot on the gas pedal too hard. TK Wilkerson scored early in the third, and the rest of the half was all about getting playing time and experience for the underclassmen. Skiatook went on to win 38-7 after a slow second half from both teams. Next week will be the battle of the Bulldogs in which Skiatook will face Altus, who also went 9-1 in the regular season.
