In the first game of the season, the Bulldogs fell behind early but fought back to narrowly fall to Glenpool 57-52. It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Warriors despite several efforts Skiatook made to close the gap. With Shane Branscum in his eighth season as the head coach of the Skiatook Bulldogs, the team has a lot of potential this year. What they lack in returning experience they make up for in talent, and it could be a great year for the boys, but first they will need to build some chemistry. Senior captain Casen Lester scored the first four points of the game for Skiatook, and Jayden Garner scored on a nice lob on an inbounds pass from Lester. Unfortunately, that was all the scoring Skiatook did for quite until Lester made another basket with 1:52 left in the first. Meanwhile, Glenpool built up a 16-6 lead, taking advantage of some Bulldogs turnovers for easy points. Skiatook managed to bounce back into the game, but a last-second three from Glenpool ended the frist quarter 19-11, in favor of the Warriors. Skiatook swapped an entire unit of five early in the second, and some stellar play from Kolby Pirtle sparked a few quick points for Skiatook, but the Warriors withstood the short run and kept the lead near double digits. The Bulldogs finally cut down the Glenpool lead down at the end of the first, when Garner made a layup and Lester drilled back-to-back threes to slice the Warriors advantage to two points, 31-29. The third quarter was full of runs for both teams. Skiatook cut it to one point, but then trailed by as much as seven. Lester and Garner continued to do most of the scoring for Skiatook, but missed layups plagued the team. With another buzzer-beating three, the Warriors went up 46-37 to end the third. Skiatook refused to give up, rallying to cut the score to 4 points with 3:47 left on a layup from Alex Holloman, and a Garner layup a minute later cut it to 2. The Bulldogs had a chance to pull off the win, but ultimately missed a three pointer that turned into a fast break for the Warriors and spread the lead out to 4 with 17.2 seconds left. The Warriors held on to win 52-47. Lester led Skiatook in scoring with 20 points.
