The Skiatook Bulldogs hosted the Owasso Rams on December 11th. The Rams were looking to knock off the #1 Bulldogs after Skiatook upset them at their house last year. Owasso pulled out to a 24 to 12 lead after seven matches into the dual but the Bulldogs ended up winning the dual 45 to 24 with seven wins in the upper weights plus picking up bonus points in four of those matches. Kyle Bowman at 106 pounds received a forfeit and Trey Bowman at 113 pounds lost by decision making the dual score 6 to 3. At 120 pounds Naataani Biggoose and 126 pounds Jacob Myers lost by fall. After four matches the Bulldogs were behind 6 to 15. Skiatook’s Cody Francis at 132 pounds wrestled Jayden Miller. Francis was able to get a takedown and two near fall points before eventually pinning Miller at the 1:54 mark of the first period. Ivan Long at 138 pounds lost by fall and BK Seago at 145 pounds lost by a decision. After seven matches the Bulldogs were losing 12 to 24 but the young and experienced team dug down deep and won the next seven matches with four falls and three decisions. At 152 pounds Tony Johnson wrestled the Rams Zach Conrad. Johnson had three takedowns and thee near fall points before pinning Conrad at the 1:17 mark of the second period. Skiatook’s Cougar Andersen wrestled Nate Jacobson in the 160 pound weight class. Andersen was able to takedown the Ram six times and get three near fall points before getting the fall at 1:38 of the second period. The Bulldogs 170 pound Richie Lee wrestled Owasso’s Taylor Fleming. The two grapplers went toe to toe for three periods but Lee was able to out wrestle the Ram and come away with a nine to three decision. With that win the Bulldogs were able to pull ahead of the Rams making the dual score 27 to 24. Hunter Hall at 182 pounds was able to beat the Rams Stephen Aycock with a five to three decision. At 195 pounds Skiatook’s Brian Pollard wrestled Scott Ghauani. The State Placer made short time of the Ram and pinned him at the :50 second mark of the first period. Devin Wilson at 220 pounds came away with a four to one decision over the Rams Devin Harris. Senior Korbin McLaughlin wrestling at heavy weight was able to get a takedown in the first and second period before he pinned Owasso’s Wyatt Wells at 1:47 of the second period making the dual score 45 to 24. Skiatook is 3 and 0 on the season and are looking strong going into the Wagoner Tournament December 14th and 15th.
