The 2018 calendar year found individual State champions in wrestling and track and field for Wagoner High School athletes.

Here is a roundup of 2018 sports teams and individuals who did well as a Bulldog.

Football: For the second year in a row, Wagoner was eliminated in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to finish 10-2.

Bethany toppled Wagoner 42-35 in a shootout at Odom Field.

The Bulldogs did win their seventh straight District championship and coach Dale Condict got his 200th career win.

Basketball: The boys and girls teams were eliminated in the Regional Consolation bracket.

The girls reached the third round and were within one win of advancing to the Area Tournament, but lost to Oologah.

The boys reached the second round before bowing out to Tulsa Lincoln Christian.

The boys team did win the Checotah Basketball Tournament during the regular season.

Golf: The boys and girls qualified for State.

Volleyball: The Lady Bulldogs reached the Regional Tournament, but lost in their bid to make the State Tournament.

Wrestling: The Bulldogs were second at the Regional tournament and finished third at State.

Mateo Pena was the only wrestler to win a State Championship by a 2-1 overtime score.

Baseball/Softball: The team faced one of its toughest schedules in recent memory as area teams were loaded.

Wagoner played better as the season progressed. The Bulldogs lost two games in the Regional bracket, but played its best baseball in tight losses.

The Lady Bulldog softball team also played its best at the end of the season led by District Defensive Player of the Year, Payton Stroud.

Soccer: The Lady Bulldogs reached the State quarterfinals before losing to Skiatook.

The boys just missed qualifying for State. Each team did post wins over powerful Verdigris.

Track: Individual gold medals piled up for six Bulldogs.

Tennis: The boys and girls teams made State and Austin Condict finished third at No. 2 singles. Emma Holmes was seventh at No. 1 singles.

Cross Country: Jillian Strange finished eighth in the Class 4A State Meet to earn All-State honors and helped the team finish 13th.
