The Skiatook Bulldogs hosted the Wagoner Bulldogs on December 18th.

The Wagoner Bulldogs were looking to come into the Brooks Walton Activity Center and create havoc on Homecoming night for the Skiatook Bulldogs.

Skiatook just claimed bragging rights the weekend before by winning the Team Championship over the Wagoner Bulldogs in their own town and tournament. Wagoner gave all that they had but their bark was not greater than Skiatook’s bite as Skiatook would outlast Wagoner with a 42 to 27 dual win.

The evening started with the Homecoming ceremonies and Trey Bowman crowning Jamie Domres as the 2018-2019 Wrestling Homecoming Queen.

After the Homecoming ceremonies the Bulldogs from Wagoner came out swinging and the Bulldogs from Skiatook were behind 24 to 7 eight matches into the dual. With only six matches left the Bulldogs knew they would need plenty of bonus points to pull out the victory and they did by getting five falls out of the next six matches sending the Wagoner Bulldogs back home with another loss.

At the 106 pound weight class Kyle Bowman wrestled Wagoner’s Gage Eaton and was able to major decision him thirteen to two. Skiatook’s Trey Bowman at 113 pounds lost a nail biter three to two against Braden Bowman.

Jacob Myers at 120 pounds for the Bulldogs wrestled Joe Miller and came away with a seven to zero decision. At 126 pounds Skiatook’s Cody Francis would have a rematch with Braden Drake from the previous weekends Championship at the Wagoner Tournament. The two grapplers went back and forth for three periods, but it was Drake that was able to win this time with an eight to seven decision over Francis.

At 132 pounds and 138 pounds Skiatook gave up forfeits making the dual score 18 to 7 in favor of the Wagoner Bulldogs.

At 145 pounds Skiatook’s BK Seago lost by fall to Tate Brumnett and Tony Johnson lost a tough decision five to six to Wagoner’s Kane Bowman. After eight matches the home town Bulldogs were behind by twenty points and had to bonus point out the majority of their final six matches to come away with a victory.

It all started with fireworks as Skiatook’s 160 pound Cougar Andersen wrestled Kaden Charboneau. The two stepped out on the mat and went blow for blow the first period and Andersen found himself behind by one point five to six. The State Champion composed himself and was able to pin Charboneau early in the second period which started the Bulldogs pin fest.

At 170 pounds Skiatook’s Richie Lee pinned Tyler Garcia late in the second period at the 3:44 mark. Brian Pollard wrestling at the 182 pound weight class came away with a five to zero decision over Jalen Mills.

With three matches left Skiatook pulled within three points of Wagoner making the score 27 to 24. Hunter Hall at 195 pounds made short time of his opponent with a pin over Wagoner’s Trey Gauss at the 1:30 mark in the first period giving Skiatook their first lead since the 106 pound match.

At 220 pounds Skiatook’s Devin Wilson made sure we didn’t give the lead back to them as he pinned Logan Cole in the third period at the 5:12 mark making the dual score 36 to 27 and locked up the Bulldog Homecoming victory.

Korbin McLaughlin wrestled Heavy Weight for the home town Bulldogs and did not disappoint the crowd by pinning the Wagoner Bulldog in the first period with two seconds left.

Skiatook was able to come away with a 42 to 27 dual victory and a 4 – 0 dual record.
